the todd harrison rock archive the strands october 2000 fresh cut bluegrass springdale Park (pleasant feelings on arriving in the country) these rails the wakening eastern Avenue drag you down buffalo distant music freeze me a soundtrack to drifting me: acoustic and electric guitars, vocals, bass, piano, keyboards, percussion a song cycle illustrating the inspiring qualities of nature and the mind-numbing drudgery of city life, this was a very difficult record to make. throughout the planning stages, i suffered from a severe case of writer's block, and once brandon and i recorded the bed tracks, i couldn't find the right frame of mind to add overdubs. the result is a strange sort of recording; it's my most cohesive in that the songs were all written with common themes in mind, and they have a sense of progression, but it also has a very scattered production sound -– a result of my use of several different venues and recording techniques. perhaps an overly ambitious project for me at the time, but a worthwhile one all the same. top :: home |
