the todd harrison rock archive everyone in moderation december 2002 and that you have become a slave jesus, like cocaine, can heal a broken heart fat girls are ugly doctor cupid what if I die here? may henry kissinger be horribly crushed from above somehow don't fade on me | tom petty me: acoustic and electric guitars, vocals, bass, percussion, harmonica, field recording when i'm making a record, i usually get in a songwriting mood. it makes sense; recording makes me think about songs and how they're constructed. in the past, i simply recorded these inspired-my-microphones songs and put them on their respective records ("young hearts," "shame," "a soundtrack to drifting" and "dream in moss park" were all born in this fashion). but we turn you on you're a radio, my other main 2002 album, was different than my previous recording projects; i was working with a band and i had to book studio time, and these things combined to mean that i simply couldn't introduce new material at the last minute. this recording is the result of those conditions. for this reason, it's a bit thinner in its content than some of my other solo records, but it was quick, easy and cheap to make, and it is -- probably for those three reasons -- my favourite of all my albums. top :: home |
